Translator Note
It seemed important to put in the verse from Steiner’s last public address. Also included are the Calendar of the Soul, the Verse for America (given for the founding of the Threefold Community in Spring Valley, New York), The Satire of Initiation, and the Dream Song of Olaf Åsteson (which Steiner translated from old Norse). Included are works by Edouard Schuré, who wrote in French BS was translated into German by Steiner. In what is called the 12 moods or voices, it is important to recognize that the beings of the constellations themselves are speaking. The spirit of each constellation speaks through the voices of the 7 planets, so, as Steiner said, if you were to awaken with just one line in mind, you would be able to recognize it as the voice of a particular constellation speaking through a particular planet.
Original verses in German are printed alongside the English translation. Hopefully this will be an inspiration for followers in other languages. Machine AI translation is good, but is not to be compared with the art of putting the words into one’s mother tongue.
The question may arise as to why I am continuing this work of Marie Steiner. It is because it seems to me to be a living book that wants to come into existence here on Earth in English.
