Esoteric Lesson
One of the most important guiding principles of esotericism, as communicated by the masters of wisdom and harmony of feelings to their students through their teachers, is as follows:
Learn silence, and you will gain power;
Surrender to power, and you will gain will;
Surrender your will and you will gain feeling;
Surrender your feeling and you will gain knowledge.
The student of the esoteric school must keep this occult sentence before his soul in all his actions and deeds, then one day he will experience the truth of the four verses for himself. However, it should be noted that these different powers can only be attained one after the other; thus, one can never first attain knowledge, then feeling, then will, and then power; rather, from surrendering power arises will, etc.
An example may be taken from the life of a rich Englishman, Oliphant, who lived in England in the middle of the last century and possessed a very large fortune. He was inspired by a noble love for his fellow men in need, and out of this feeling, he and his wife, who was moved by the same sentiments, distributed their entire fortune among the poor and emigrated to America with only a few pennies to their name. There they worked with their hands to build up a modest fortune, and with this they moved to Mount Tabor. Here, a remarkable phenomenon came to light. Inspired by his wife's spiritual insights, Oliphant began to write some highly interesting and remarkable books on Genesis, which, from a purely occult point of view, represent the most remarkable thing that was written about the Bible at that time. But it was only with his wife's help that he was able to conceive these ideas. After an intense life of spiritual insight, his wife died first. Only a short time after her death, Oliphant was able to continue his work; then his ability to write ceased completely, as the inspiration of his deceased wife no longer reached the physical plane. This is therefore an example of the truth of the second verse of the above stanza.
In the world around us, everywhere on Earth, we are constantly surrounded by five etheric currents. The etheric currents are described as follows in the Rosicrucian schools: earth ether, water ether, fire ether, air ether, and thought ether. The corresponding Indian terms are: Prithivi Tattwa, Apas Tattwa, Tejas or Agni Tattwa, Vaju Tattwa, and Akasha Tattwa. Just as these ether currents are always present in the nature surrounding us, so too are these ether currents active in human beings in a very specific way, namely, the earth ether flows from the head to the right foot, from there the water ether to the left hand, then from the left hand the fire ether to the right hand, from there the air ether to the left foot, and from there the thought ether back to the head. This creates the following figure:
This is the pentagram of the occultists, the sacred pentagon, “the sign of man.” Its point is directed upward, indicating that the spiritual flows down from above toward man. The pentagram is found everywhere in nature where there is a symmetrical arrangement based on the number five, for example in flowers, etc.
If we now turn the pentagram upside down so that its tip points downward, we call this “the sign of black magic.”
Black magic uses the tip to draw the lower, evil forces of the earth to itself, and through the two upper horns, the black magician uses his evil will to send these evil influences out into the environment in order to make the forces of nature and the soul serve his evil purposes in a selfish manner.1Personal note by the recorder, not communicated during the esoteric lesson: “In the Middle Ages, it was aptly called ‘the sign of the devil’, and the inverted divine pentagram in the form of a cross was used as the most effective weapon against evil influences.”
Below are some particularly noteworthy properties and relationships of ether currents listed in tabular form. We find the intersections of the five different currents, their relationships to taste, color, etc.
Through betrayal, some of these special properties have been made public, but people have heard the bells ringing without seeing them strike. The cross-section figure of the thought ether, Akasha Tattwa, has been communicated in a completely false and misleading way. It has been said that this figure resembles an ear. In fact, this is not the case, but rather it is a dark blue vortex into which another less visible vortex reaches. Since this second vortex is not clearly visible, the opinion arose that the cross-section of the Akasha Tattwa forms the figure of an ear. But this is the real shape:

Esoterische Stunde
Einer der wichtigsten Leitsätze aus der Esoterik lautet, so wie ihn die Meister der Weisheit und des Zusammenklanges der Empfindungen dem Schüler durch den Lehrer mitteilen, also:
Lerne Schweigen und dir wird die Macht;
Begib dich der Macht und dir wird das Wollen;
Begib dich des Wollens und dir wird das Fühlen;
Begib dich des Fühlens und dir wird Erkenntnis.
Diesen okkulten Satz muß der Schüler der Esoterischen Schule sich bei allem Tun und Handeln vor die Seele stellen, dann wird er eines Tages die Wahrheit der vier Verse selbst erleben. Dabei ist aber wohl zu beachten, daß diese verschiedenen Kräfte nur eine nach der andern errungen werden können; also kann man niemals zuerst die Erkenntnis erlangen, und dann etwa das Fühlen, und dann das Wollen und dann die Macht; sondern aus dem Sich-Begeben der Macht entsteht das Wollen etc.
Ein Beispiel möge angeführt werden aus dem Leben eines reichen Engländers, Oliphant, der in der Mitte des vorigen Jahrhunderts in England lebte und ein sehr großes Vermögen besaß. Er war von einer edlen Liebe für seine bedürftigeren Mitmenschen beseelt, und aus diesem Gefühl heraus verteilten er und seine von den gleichen Empfindungen getragene Frau ihr ganzes Vermögen unter die Armen und wanderten, mit einem spärlichen Notpfennig versehen, aus nach Amerika. Dort erarbeiteten sie sich durch ihre Hände ein bescheidenes Vermögen, und mit diesem zogen sie auf den Berg Tabor. Hier trat nun bei ihnen eine merkwürdige Erscheinung zu Tage. Oliphant fing an mittelst der Inspiration, die seine Frau aus dem Geistigen heraus hatte, einige höchst interessante und merkwürdige Bücher über die Genesis zu schreiben, die von rein okkultem Standpunkt betrachtet das Merkwürdigste darstellen, was man in jener Zeit über die Bibel überhaupt geschrieben hat. Aber nur mit Hilfe seiner Frau war er imstande, diese Gedanken zu haben. Nach einem intensiven Leben der geistigen Erkenntnis starb zuerst seine Frau. Nur kurze Zeit nach ihrem Tode konnte Oliphant sein Werk fortsetzen; dann erlosch die Fähigkeit des Schreibens vollständig, da die Inspiration seiner verstorbenen Frau die physische Ebene nicht mehr erreichte. Dieses ist also ein Beispiel für die Wahrheit des zweiten Verses der oben angeführten Strophe.
In der uns umgebenden Welt, überall auf der Erde sind wir stets von fünf Ätherströmungen umgeben. Die Ätherströmungen werden folgendermaßen im Sinne der Rosenkreuzer-Schulen bezeichnet: Erde-Äther, Wasser-Äther, Feuer-Äther, Luft-Äther und Gedanken-Äther. Die entsprechenden indischen Bezeichnungen lauten: Prithivi Tattwa, Apas Tattwa, Tejas oder Agni Tattwa, Vaju Tattwa und Akasha Tattwa. So wie nun in der uns umgebenden Natur diese Ätherströmungen stets vorhanden sind, so sind auch im Menschen in einer ganz bestimmten Art und Weise diese Ätherströmungen in Tätigkeit, und zwar geht der Erde-Äther vom Kopfe aus zum rechten Fuß, von da aus der Wasser-Äther zur linken Hand, dann von der linken Hand aus der Feuer-Äther zur rechten Hand, von da aus der Luft-Äther zum linken Fuße, und von dort aus der Gedanken-Äther zum Kopfe zurück. Dadurch entsteht folgende Figur:
Dieses ist das Pentagramm der Okkultisten, das heilige Fünfeck, «das Zeichen des Menschen». Seine Spitze ist nach oben gerichtet, und es wird dadurch angedeutet, daß das Geistige aus der Höhe dem Menschen entgegenströmt. Überall in der Natur, wo sich eine symmetrische Anordnung nach der Fünfzahl vorfindet, zum Beispiel bei Blüten etc. ist das Pentagramm vor handen.
Kehren wir nun das Pentagramm um, so daß seine Spitze nach unten gerichtet ist, so nennen wir dies «das Zeichen der schwarzen Magie».
Die schwarze Magie zieht mittelst der Spitze die niederen schlechten Kräfte der Erde an sich heran und durch die beiden oberen Hörner sendet der schwarze Magier mittelst seines bösen Willens diese schlechten Einflüsse in die Umwelt aus, um die Kräfte der Natur und der Seele seinen schlechten Zwecken in egoistischer Weise dienstbar zu machen.1Persönliche Anmerkung des Aufzeichners, nicht in der esoterischen Stunde mitgeteilt: «Im Mittelalter wurde es treffend «das Zeichen des Teufels» genannt, auch das umgekehrte göttliche Pentagramm in Form des Kreuzeszeichens als wirksamste Waffe gegen die teuflischen Einflüsse angewandt wurde.»
Im Folgenden sind einige noch besonders bemerkenswerte Eigenschaften und Beziehungen der Ätherströmungen tabellarisch aufgeführt. Wir finden da die Querschnitte der fünf verschiedenen Strömungen, ihre Beziehungen zu dem Geschmack, zur Farbe etc.
Durch Verrat sind einige dieser besonderen Eigenschaften veröffentlicht worden, aber man hat da die Glocken läuten hören, aber nicht zusammenschlagen sehen. Gänzlich falsch und irreführend ist die Querschnittsfigur des Gedankenäthers, Akasha Tattwa, mitgeteilt. Man hat da gesagt, diese Figur gliche einem Ohre . Tatsächlich ist dies aber nicht der Fall, sondern es ist ein dunkelblauer Wirbel, in den ein anderer wenig sichtbarer Wirbel hineingreift. Da dieser zweite Wirbel nicht deutlich sichtbar ist, so entstand die Meinung, der Querschnitt des Akasha Tattwa bilde die Figur eines Ohres. Aber dies ist die wirkliche Form:
