Yielding to the World, I Dream in Its Creating

Now at Pentecost, we have the opportunity to fill ourselves with the holy, life-giving Spirit that enlivens the entire world. The flowers are blooming in patterns that reflect the harmony of spheres.

If you could perceive the Sun-Forces streaming down on to the bodies of plants as they grow (these bodies whose roots and leaves terminate in flowers bathed round by the astral body, into which stream the forces of the sun); if you could perceive these forces secretly entering the earth through the flower, you would perceive them as spiritual music—the music of the spheres. This can, however, only be heard by spiritual ears. Spiritual sound enters into flowers, that is the secret of the development of plants, each separate flower is the expression of the tones which give it form, and give to the fruit its character.

Rudolf Steiner, Universe, Earth and Man, GA 105, 12 Aug 1908, Stuttgart.

We too can join in this unified song of creation. This is a time to let go of our mental rigor and relax into the wonder of life's becoming something new. The forces that we took into our own souls during the dark days of winter now sprout just as the earth's foliage grows. If we allow ourselves to unite with the universal Christ that flows through the etheric realms of the earth, we too can blossom into our highest selves.

Practice the Calendar verses to entrain with the rhythms of the seasons. Together, we will radiate these forces out into society through our moral words and deeds of brotherly love.

Rudolf Steiner's verses for the 52 weeks of the calendar are here on our website, together with Rudolf Steiner's original German text and several other translations: Rudolf Steiner, The Calendar of the Soul.
