VII. On the Origin of Planetary Systems
First, the purely physical theory that is usually taught in our schools. One of these is the physical-material, the other the kamic-manasic. Now the material emerges, as it were, out of nothing.
He cannot recognize the Kama-Manas. This forms the human being, and the human being forms the animals as side branches. Something else must precede the astral earth. This is preceded by a mental earth, the rupic-mental earth. But when the rupic-mental earth was formed, the rupic-mental sun, Venus, and so on, the whole planetary system, was formed at the same time. All planets became rupic-mental at the same time. The original was the Sun. The first division that arises is developed out of the Arupic. The segregation of the planets takes place in such a way that this is a purely mental process. The Dhyan-Chohans are the mental spirits of the planets.
Let us consider Jupiter. The Arupic mental Sun has become the Rupic mental Mercury and so on. We have designated as rupic-mental all the processes that relate to the planetary system. Everything that enters into the individual planets is astral. The astral-earthly has nothing to do with any other planet. On the other hand, we have the rupic-mental sphere in common with all the other planets. The kamic entities are those that belong only to our physical existence. The observer sitting on the chair could only see the bodies shine when they have entered the physical-material. A Christian who imagines God as a man with a long beard is spiritually superstitious. Those who believe in the Kant-Laplace theory we call materially superstitious.
If we follow the lunar cycle, we are dealing with a physical moon. It becomes astral. Take the earth. It was first arupic, then rupic, then mental, astral, physical, then astral again, rupic, arupic. We have already been through this.
The Pitri nature is astral and so on. In the astral state, we would never be able to make the transition from one planet to another. Only when we rise to the mental and there again reach the roupical-mental, which still belongs to the same planet, and come to the formless, only then can we pass into the pralaya and ascend to another planet. We have to reach the arupical stage to be able to go from one planet to another.
I will now describe the process by which the Earth was formed from the Moon. In today's physics books, the process is described very crudely. The conditions are described as being similar to those on our Earth. Our Earth makes one revolution in 24 hours. The Moon completes the same in 29 days. That is one lunar month. It revolves around its axis once. Its day lasts half of 29 days = 14¾ days day and 14¾ days night. When the sun shines for so long, such heat is generated that the lead, if it exists on the moon, would melt completely at noon and would flow on the moon. Lead could never stay put for a day. The other metals would all be water. And if we look at the night, it would have become so cold before sunset that the thermometer would be 150 degrees below freezing. Everything that looks like earthly life would have to perish every moonlit night. You see, the conditions are radically different when we look at them purely physically.
Now I will show you what conditions were like before our Earth was formed. The body that is the Moon today is not the Moon we speak of in occult science. That was a world body that no longer exists today, on which the soul ancestors lived, who had a highly developed Kama nature, were long-haired, gigantic in size, and in certain races even looked similar to a Nikelmann [...], moist, the ancestors were enclosed in the germ. Their physical form had become astral; from there rupisch, arupisch, then germ [...] and from there over to earth. The seeds were fertilized by Kama-Manas. In this line were the Pitris, who were essentially already merged with Kama-Manas, and most of the Pitris were merged with such Kama-Manas seeds. But there were also a number of Pitris natures who had not reached their level of development in the earlier lunar epoch. They were there with the full amount of kamic power that belonged to them, that was not usable by others. The moon lost its astral shell, a mass of slag that contains only those kamic forces that are more firmly embedded in its mass than the magnetic forces are in a magnet. The astral body will not appear as a surging battlefield between the astral and the physical, but will come to a uniform rest within itself. Man nimmt an nach Kant-Laplace’scher Theorie, dass an der Stelle, wo heute unser Sonnensystem ist, einst ein dünner, gasförmiger Nebel war, ähnlich wie die Masse des Orionnebels, sodass die gesamten Planeten wie Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Venus, Erde - in Analogie - wie einfache Fettkügelchen waren, wie Fettkügelchen, die auf dem Wasser schwimmen.

Können Sie sich vorstellen, dass sich aus einer Gas-Masse organische Keime absondern? Daraus können Sie ja ersehen, dass innerhalb dessen, was Kant beschreibt, noch etwas vorhanden gewesen sein muss, das Kant nicht beschreibt. Wenn wir die Zustände unserer Erde zurückverfolgen: Heute ist sie fest, vorher war sie flüssig, noch vorher hatte sie gasförmige Gestalt. Bevor sie aber die gasförmige Gestalt angenommen hat, war sie eine astrale Kugel.
Und das kann die physische Theorie nicht beschreiben. Den Raum, wo jetzt die Erde ist, müssen Sie sich mit Astralmaterie ausgefüllt denken. Kama wird in einem Zeitpunkte geschieden in zwei Pole. Der eine Gegensatz ist das Physisch-Materielle, der andere das Kamisch-Manasische. Nun sieht er gleichsam aus dem Nichts hervorkommen das Materielle.
Das Kama-Manasische kann er nicht erkennen. Das bildet den Menschen, und der Mensch bildet die Tiere als Seitenzweige. Der astralen Erde muss etwas anderes vorangehen. Dieser geht eine mentale Erde voran, die rupisch-mentale Erde. Aber als die rupisch-mentale Erde entstand, da entstand gleichzeitig die rupisch-mentale Sonne, Venus und so weiter, das ganze Planetensystem. Alle Planeten wurden gleichzeitig rupisch-mental. Das Ursprüngliche war die Sonne. Die erste Teilung, die entsteht, ist aus dem Arupischen heraus entwickelt. Es vollzieht sich die Absonderung der Planeten so, dass dies ein rein gedanklicher Vorgang ist. Die Dhyan-Chohans sind die mentalen Geister der Planeten.
Betrachten wir den Jupiter. Aus der arupischen Mentalsonne ist der rupische Mental-Merkur geworden und so weiter. Alle Vorgänge, die sich auf das Planetensystem beziehen, haben wir als rupischmental. Alles, was in den einzelnen Planeten hineingeht, das ist astral. Das Astral-Irdische hat also nichts zu tun mit irgendeinem anderen Planeten. Dagegen haben wir die rupisch-mentale Sphäre mit allen anderen Planeten gemeinschaftlich. Die kamischen Wesenheiten sind solche, die nur unserem physischen Dasein angehören. Der auf dem Stuhle sitzende Beobachter könnte die Körper erst dann aufglänzen sehen, wenn sie ins Physisch-Materielle eingegangen sind. Ein Christ, der sich Gott als Mann mit langem Bart vorstellt, ist spirituell abergläubisch. Wer an die Kant-Laplace’sche Theorie glaubt, den nennen wir materialistisch abergläubisch.
Wenn wir die lunarische Epoche verfolgen, so haben wir es zu tun mit einem physischen Mond. Der wird astral. Nehmen wir die Erde. Sie war zuerst arupisch, dann rupisch, dann mental, astral, physisch, dann wieder astral, rupisch, arupisch. Dies haben wir schon durchgemacht.
Es ist die Pitri-Natur astral und so weiter. In dem astralen Zustande würden wir niemals den Übergang finden können von dem einen Planeten zum anderen. Nur wenn wir uns bis zum Mentalen erheben und da wiederum das Rupisch-Mentale erreichen, das noch demselben Planeten angehört, und bis zum Formlosen kommen, nur dann können wir in das Pralaya hinübergehen und in einen anderen Planeten steigen. Wir müssen die arupische Stufe erreichen, um von einem Planeten zum anderen gehen zu können.
Den Vorgang, wie sich die Erde aus dem Monde herausgebildet hat, will ich jetzt schildern. In den heutigen Physikbüchern wird der Vorgang sehr roh geschildert. Die Verhältnisse werden da so ähnlich geschildert denjenigen auf unserer Erde. Unsere Erde macht in 24 Stunden einen Umkreis. Der Mond vollendet dasselbe in 29 Tagen. Das ist ein Mondmonat. Er kreist einmal um die Achse. Sein Tag dauert die Hälfte von 29 Tagen = 14¾ Tage Tag und 14¾ Tage Nacht. Wenn die Sonne so lange scheint, wird eine solche Wärme entwickelt, dass das Blei, wenn es auf dem Monde vorhanden ist, mittags vollständig schmelzen würde und auf dem Monde fließen würde. Blei könnte niemals einen Tag festbleiben. Die anderen Metalle würden alle Wasser sein. Und wenn wir die Nacht betrachten, so würde es vor Sonnenuntergang so kalt geworden sein, dass das Thermometer 150 Grad unter dem Gefrierpunkt sein würde. Alles, was nach irdischem Leben aussieht, müsste in jeder Mondnacht untergehen. Sie sehen, die Verhältnisse sind radikal anders, wenn wir sie rein physikalisch betrachten.
Nun will ich Ihnen zeigen, wie die Zustände waren, bevor unsere Erde entstanden ist. Der Körper, der heute Mond ist, ist nicht der Mond, von dem wir in der okkulten Wissenschaft reden. Das war ein Weltenkörper, den es heute nicht mehr gibt, auf dem die Seelen-Vorfahren gelebt haben, die es zu einer höchst ausgebildeten Kama-Natur gebracht haben, die lang behaart waren, gigantisch groß waren, in gewissen Rassen sogar ausgesehen haben ähnlich wie ein Nikelmann [...], feucht, die Vorfahren waren in den Keim geschlossen. Ihre physische Gestalt war astral geworden; von da rupisch, arupisch, dann Keim [...] und von da herüber nach der Erde. Die Samen wurden befruchtet von Kama-Manas. Dann bildete sich das Astrale, und dann hatten wir die astrale Erde.
In dieser Linie drinnen waren die Pitris, die im Wesentlichen schon verschmolzen waren mit Kama-Manas, und die meisten der Pitris waren verschmolzen mit solchen Kama-Manas-Samen. Daneben aber waren eine Anzahl Pitris-Naturen, die in der früheren lunarischen Epoche nicht ihre Entwicklungshöhe erreicht hatten. Nicht jene, die die Entwicklung überschnappt hätten, die die Entwicklung stören, sondern die zurückgeblieben waren, die die Entwicklung nicht erreicht haben. Sie waren da mit der ganzen Summe kamischer Kraft, die zu ihnen gehört, die anderen nicht verwendbar war. Diese wurde ausgeschieden, und die Kugel, die vorhanden war, verlängerte sich, es entstand ein Ellipsoid, eine Eiform.
In dieser Form bildeten sich zwei feste Kerne, ein großer und ein kleiner. Und nun schnürten sich die kleine Kugel und die große Kugel ab. Der Mond verlor seine astrale Hülle, eine Schlackenmasse, die nur solche kamischen Kräfte enthält, die mehr festsitzen in seiner Masse als die magnetischen Kräfte im Magneten. Mondmagnetismus ist eine sehr verdichtete kamische Kraft. Das Äußere verdichtet sich dann auch und wurde zur festen Erde. Hoch im astralen Zustande findet dieser Vorgang des Herauswerfens statt. Die Rupa-Erde unterscheidet sich dadurch von dem früheren Mond, dass der Same von Kama-Manas hinzukommt. Die Tatsache, dass wir beim Mineralischen kosmischen Körpern gegenüber keine moralischen Forderungen stellen, beruht darauf, dass der Astralkörper derselben zur Ruhe gekommen ist. Man wird den Vesuv nicht verantwortlich machen dafür, dass er überfließt und Feuer speit.
Der Mensch wird einem Stern ähnlicher, je mehr er das [Kama] verbrannt hat. Der Astralkörper wird sich nicht als wogendes Kampfesfeld zwischen dem Astralischen und Physischen ausnehmen, sondern in sich zur gleichförmigen Ruhe kommen. In der Durchastralisierung des Astralkörpers besteht eben das Verbrennen des [Kama].
