Who were allowed to follow them in cultivating
The treasure of the spirit; and so it continued
From one generation to the next.
Until now, all places of knowledge
That are truly such have sprung forth justly
From the highestthat stands in the spiritual spheres.
In earnest search we strive here
Toward the true spiritual heritage of mankind.
We will never speak of knowledge
That does not bear the seal of the spirit;
Only from the light of the spiritual worlds,
Which people can see when they look up,
Those who want to trust themselves to it,

Preparation: How do I find the good?
1. Can I think the good?
I cannot think the good.
Thinking nourishes my etheric body. My etheric body works in the fluid of my body. So I do not find the good in the fluid of the body.2. Can I feel the good?
I can feel the good, but it is not there through me
if I only feel it.
3. Can I will the good?
I can will the good.
Willing sustains my ego. My ego works in the warmth ether of my body. Therefore, in warmth I can physically realize the good.I feel my humanity in my warmth.

(Pay attention that this sensation of light occurs in the area where the physical heart is located.)
2. I feel the substance of the world sounding in my warmth.

Du Geist des Weltenalls, der Du dich verkündigst unserer wahren Selbsterkenntnis, Du hast gnädig das Wort gehalten, welches Du uns gegeben hast, da Du sahest unsere Arbeit, wie sie geleistet wurde seit Jahren von Deinen Dienern; und offenbar wird es heute in dieser Stunde. Zwar vermögen die weitesten Geistesräume Dich nicht zu fassen, großer Geist des Weltenalls, der Du mit Deinen Gedanken alle Deine Werke durchdringst, der Du wohnen willst in den Worten, die von unseren Lippen ertönen dürfen; wie viel weniger können Dich fassen diese Tempelmauern, die wir Dir erbaut haben. Siehe aber, Geist des Weltenalls, der Du Dich ankündigst in unserer wirklichen Selbsterkenntnis, auf den Willen zum Verstehen, auf die Sehnsucht nach Erkenntnis Deiner Diener! In jenes Geistes Namen, der den Seelen
In unsrem Strebensorte sich verkündet,
Erscheine ich in diesem Augenblicke
Vor Menschen, die von jetzt an hören wollen
Das Wort, das hier den Seelen ernst erklingt.
Nicht frühern Zeiten konnten jene Mächte,
Die unsres Erdenwerdens Ziele lenken,
In vollbewusster Art sich offenbaren.
Denn wie im Kinderleibe erst allmählich
Die Kräfte reifen müssen und erstarken,
Die zu des Wissens Trägern sind bestimmt,
So musste sich als Ganzes auch entfalten
Das Menschentum in seinem Erdenlauf.
In Dumpfheit lebten erst die Seelentriebe,
Die später würdig sich erweisen sollten,
Aus hohen Welten Geisteslicht zu schauen.
Doch wurden als der Menschen weise Führer
Im Erdbeginn dem Geist ergebne Seelen
Von höhren Daseinsmächten auserwählt.
Sie pflegten in des Wissens Strebeorten
Die Geisteskräfte, die Erkenntnisstrahlen
In Seelen sandten, die nur dumpf bewusst
Von ihrem Schauen sich durchdringen konnten.
Erst später konnten aus der Menschen Reihen
Die Geistesforscher sich die Schüler holen,
Die durch das willensstarke Prüfungsleben
Sich reif erwiesen, in Bewusstheits Helle
Zum Geisteswissen zielvoll hinzustreben.
Und als der ersten Führer Schüler später
Das edle Gut in Würde pflegen konnten,
Verschwand die unbewusste Führerschaft,
Dass freie Seelen wissend streben durften.
Und freie Seelen wählten sich dann Menschen,
Die ihnen folgen durften in der Pflege
Des Geistesschatzes; und so ging es weiter
Von einem Menschenalter hin zum andern.
Es sind bis jetzt ja alle Wissensstätten,
Die dies in Wahrheit sind, gerecht entsprungen
Der höchsten, die in Geistessphären steht.
In ernstem Suchen streben wir allhier
Nach wahrem Geistes-Menschenerbe hin.
Wir werden niemals von Erkenntnis sprechen,
Die nicht des Geistes eignes Siegel trägt;
Allein vom Lichte aus den Geisteswelten,
Das schauend Menschen sich erschließen kann,
Die sich ihm strebend anvertrauen wollen,
Um ihrer Seele Tiefen zu ergründen.
Zu diesem Lichte würdig hinzustreben,
Das weiset uns der Zeitenwende Ernst
Und ihre Not; die Zeichen sind fürwahr

1. Kann ich das Gute denken?
Ich kann das Gute nicht denken.
Denken versorgt mein Ätherleib.
Mein Ätherleib wirkt in der Flüssigkeit meines Leibes.
Also in der Flüssigkeit des Leibes finde ich das Gute nicht.
2. Kann ich das Gute fühlen?
Ich kann das Gute zwar fühlen; aber es ist durch mich
nicht da, wenn ich es nur fühle.
Fühlen versorgt mein astralischer Leib.
Mein astralischer Leib wirkt in dem Luftförmigen meines Leibes.
Also in dem Luftförmigen des Leibes finde ich das durch
mich existierende Gute nicht.
3. Kann ich das Gute wollen?
Ich kann das Gute wollen.
Wollen versorgt mein Ich.
Mein Ich wirkt in dem Wärmeäther meines Leibes.

Dass ich Tempel sein muss

Mein Auge lerne sehen in Finsternis
