130. Esoteric Christianity and the Mission of Christian Rosenkreutz: The Mission of Christian Rosenkreutz 18 Dec 1912, Neuchâtel
Translated by Pauline Wehrle

This conference was well prepared by Christian Rosenkreutz in that the closest friend and pupil of Christian Rosenkreutz was Gautama Buddha, living in a spirit body.
When the modern pupil of Spiritual Science meditates in the sense indicated by Christian Rosenkreutz, forces sent to the earth by Buddha as the redeemer of Mars stream to him. Christian Rosenkreutz is thus revealed to us as the great servant of Christ Jesus; but what Buddha, as the emissary of Christian Rosenkreutz, was destined to contribute to the work of Christ Jesus—this had also to come to the help of the work performed by Christian Rosenkreutz in the service of Christ Jesus.
—then he may believe with quiet confidence: ‘I can aspire to become a pupil of Christian Rosenkreutz.’ This picture of the relationship of Christian Rosenkreutz to Gautama Buddha is a potent and effective meditation.
35. Collected Essays on Philosophy and Anthroposophy 1904–1923: The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz 31 Dec 1917,

Christian Rosenkreutz stands before the events in the “King's Hall” in such a way that his soul beholds itself in them.
If Christian Rosenkreutz had only to walk his own path of knowledge, he could also conclude with temptation. That this is not the case points to what Andreae wants to describe.
At the end of his description of the “Chymical Wedding”, Andreae hints at how Christian Rosenkreutz “came home”. In all the externals of the world he is the same as he was before his experiences.
130. Esoteric Christianity and the Mission of Christian Rosenkreutz: Rosicrucian Christianity I 27 Sep 1911, Neuchâtel
Translated by Pauline Wehrle

It gives me great joy to be here for the first time in this newly founded group bearing the great name of Christian Rosenkreutz,23 which gives me the opportunity for the first time of speaking about Christian Rosenkreutz at greater length. What is contained in the mystery of Christian Rosenkreutz? I cannot tell you all about this personality in one evening, so we shall speak about Christian Rosenkreutz himself today, and tomorrow we shall talk about his work.
Through the works of the rosicrucians the etheric body of Christian Rosenkreutz became ever stronger and mightier from century to century. It worked not only through Christian Rosenkreutz but through all those who became his pupils.
130. The Mission of Christian Rosenkreutz: The Mission of Gautama Buddha on Mars 18 Dec 1912, Neuchâtel
Translated by Dorothy S. Osmond

A being like Christian Rosenkreutz, who is present in the world as a great and eminent occultist has to reckon with the conditions peculiar to his epoch.
Christian Rosenkreutz was associated with certain other great Individualities concerned with the leadership of humanity.
When the modern pupil of Spiritual Science meditates in the sense indicated by Christian Rosenkreutz, forces sent to the Earth by Buddha as the Redeemer of Mars, stream to him.
130. Esoteric Christianity and the Mission of Christian Rosenkreutz: Rosicrucian Christianity II 28 Sep 1911, Neuchâtel
Translated by Pauline Wehrle

At that time hardly anyone else came to know Christian Rosenkreutz apart from these twelve. This is not to be understood as if Christian Rosenkreutz did not meet other people, but only that the other people did not recognise him for what he was.
Christian Rosenkreutz has added the possibility of such an experience to my karma. That is the way in which Christian Rosenkreutz makes his choice of pupils.
The less you take on authority, the more understanding you will have for Christian Rosenkreutz. We know Christian Rosenkreutz best when we enter properly into his individuality and become conscious that the spirit of Christian Rosenkreutz lives on and on.
The Mission of Christian Rosenkreutz: A Concluding Indication
Translated by Dorothy S. Osmond

A year ago we heard how the knowledge of a certain relationship to Christian Rosenkreutz may come to man involuntarily. But it is also possible to put a kind of question to one's own destiny: “Can I make myself worthy to become a pupil of Christian Rosenkreutz?”
Let such a man try to place before his soul a picture of Christian Rosenkreutz, the great Teacher of the modern age, in the midst of the Twelve, sending forth Gautama Buddha into the Cosmos as his emissary at the beginning of the seventeenth century, thus bringing about a consummation of what came to pass in the sixth century before Christ through the Sermon at Benares.
then he may believe with quiet confidence: “I can aspire to become a pupil of Christian Rosenkreutz.” This picture of the relationship of Christian Rosenkreutz to Gautama Buddha is a potent and effective meditation.
93. The Temple Legend: The Mystery known to Rosicrucians 04 Nov 1904, Berlin
Translated by John M. Wood

The name first became known through an anonymous handwritten document of 1604, which appeared in 1616 under the title: Chymische Hochzeit: Christian Rosenkreutz, Anno 1459, whose author, Johann Valentin Andreae, was declared by Rudolf Steiner to have been inspired by Christian Rosenkreutz himself. According to Rudolf Steiner, Christian Rosenkreutz was a real historical personality.See: A Commentary on the Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz, Michael Press, 1965. 130. Esoteric Christianity and the Mission of Christian Rosenkreutz: The Christ Impulse as Living Reality II 20 Nov 1911, Munich
Translated by Pauline Wehrle

In the external world we give the name Christian Rosenkreutz to this individuality. But it was not until the fourteenth century that he was known by this name.
Many a person of whom we do not expect it, is a pupil chosen by Christian Rosenkreutz. Already today it is possible to speak of a sign by means of which Christian Rosenkreutz calls to one whom he has chosen.
The human beings of whom it can be said that they were, or will be, united in this way with Christian Rosenkreutz, are those who should be the pioneers of a deeper understanding of esoteric Christianity. This stream of spiritual life connected with Christian Rosenkreutz provides the highest means for enabling the Christ Impulse to be understood in our time.
141. Between Death and Rebirth: Lecture V 22 Dec 1912, Berlin
Translated by Dorothy S. Osmond, E. H. Goddard

On one occasion I also spoke of what may be called the last Initiation of Christian Rosenkreutz in the thirteenth century. Today I shall speak of a deed he performed towards the end of the sixteenth century.
Christian Rosenkreutz felt it to be his mission to offer to every human soul, living no matter where, the possibility of rising to the heights of spiritual life.
Christian Rosenkreutz gathered around him those who had also been with him at the time of his Initiation in the thirteenth century.
264. The History of the Esoteric School 1904–1914, Volume One: Ancient Traditions from Personal Conversations with Rudolf Steiner

About Master Jesus and Christian Rosenkreutz In answer to a question about the God-friend of the Oberland, Rudolf Steiner replied that he was the Master Jesus, who had been incarnated in every century since the Mystery of Golgotha.
Both take turns in every century and the Master Jesus has also been working in the sense of Christian Rosenkreutz since then. (Reported by Wilhelm Rath from his conversation with Rudolf Steiner in Stuttgart, October 16, 1922) When asked whether the Friend of God from the Oberland was Christian Rosenkreutz, Rudolf Steiner replied: No! But Christian Rosenkreutz was in the circle of 12 Friends of God, of whose secret meetings the Friend of God from the Oberland reported. - To the further question: Was the friend of God Zarathustra, Rudolf Steiner replied: Yes.
