140. Life Between Death and Rebirth: The Working of Karma in Life After Death 15 Dec 1912, Bern
Translated by René M. Querido

Rudolf Steiner
At a particular moment he was saved from an accident, or it might also happen that in such a manner a joyful event escaped him. A dream picture that imparts a message from the dead can enter life at such moments. But people live crudely.
141. Between Death and Rebirth: Lecture II 20 Nov 1912, Berlin
Translated by Dorothy S. Osmond, E. H. Goddard

Rudolf Steiner
Spiritual-scientific understanding will eventually be replaced by another, quite different understanding of which men today cannot even dream. For certain as it is that a truth is right in an epoch possessed of a genuine sense of truth, it is also a fact that continually new impulses will make their way into the evolution of humanity.
180. Ancient Myths: Their Meaning and Connection with Evolution: The Change of Soul in the Change of Consciousness 05 Jan 1918, Dornach
Translated by Mabel Cotterell

Rudolf Steiner
If I were to make a comparison from something lately in our minds, I might say: You have heard in the ‘Dream of Olaf &Åsteson’ how he experiences the spirit-snake, the spirit-dog and the spirit-bull; he describes what he feels about them.
180. Mysterious Truths and Christmas Impulses: Sixth Lecture 30 Dec 1917, Dornach

Rudolf Steiner
This drowsy humanity of modern times would actually prefer to sleep through world events altogether, that is, to let them approach it as dreams. It does not want to develop the consciousness to participate when sensory perceptions occur. That is why it is so difficult to understand the Greek way of thinking today, because the Greeks had a much more active concept of the human being.
180. Mysterious Truths and Christmas Impulses: Fifteenth Lecture 14 Jan 1918, Dornach

Rudolf Steiner
For them, there was not only an external material nature, there were not only seasons and wind and weather, but for them there was, because they saw it in those states that were more than a dream, the god Wotan, whom the people knew. Many at least knew: they themselves saw the god Wotan, who moved with the wind, on wings of wind.
173c. The Karma of Untruthfulness II: Lecture XXIV 28 Jan 1917, Dornach
Translated by Johanna Collis

Rudolf Steiner
You know that there is a—shall we say—superstitious rule, that if we want to hold on to a dream we must not look at the window or the light because if we do, we will forget easily. This applies just as much to the delicate observations which flow to us from the spiritual world.
185. From Symptom to Reality in Modern History: Characteristics of Historical Symptoms in Recent Times 20 Oct 1918, Dornach
Translated by A. H. Parker

Rudolf Steiner
If we could not develop in ourselves ‘cerebral hunger’, that is to say, processes of catabolism, of degeneration and disintegration, we could not behave as intelligent beings, we should be vacillating, indecisive creatures living in a semiconscious, dream-like state. We owe our intellection to the degenerative processes of the brain. And the epoch of the Consciousness Soul must provide man with the opportunity to experience disintegration in his environment.
191. Differentiation of Primeval Wisdom into East, Middle, West 14 Nov 1919, Dornach
Translator Unknown

Rudolf Steiner
While in the West the French Revolution partially raged and partially bore its consequences, and the East was still immersed in Spiritual dreams, we see e.g. Schiller writing his letters concerning the aesthetic education of man. These are directly concerned with the French Revolution, but they seek to solve the problem thrown up politically by the French Revolution, they seek to solve it humanistically, in a purely human way.
159. Spiritual Science, a Necessity for the Present Time 13 Mar 1915, Nuremberg
Translator Unknown

Rudolf Steiner
Olaf Asteson's very name indicates that he possessed unconscious hereditary forces of knowledge, for its real meaning The man in whose veins flows the blood of his ancestors. The Son of the Sun, Olaf Asteson, sleeps and dreams through the thirteen nights which are the darkest of the year's course on earth and which go from the day of Christ's birth to the day of Epiphany on January 6th.
210. Old and New Methods of Initiation: Lecture X 25 Feb 1922, Dornach
Translated by Johanna Collis

Rudolf Steiner
On the fiftieth anniversary of Goethe's death, in 1882, Schröer gave an address: ‘How the future will see Goethe’. He lived with the dream that the time had already come for a kind of resurrection of Goethe. Then we wrote a short essay in Die Neue Freie Presse which was reprinted in the booklet ‘Goethe and Love’.
